Sunan an-Nasai 3775 (Book 35, Hadith 15) #18390
Swearing and Gambling in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that if someone swears by Al-Lat, they should instead say "La ilaha illallah" and if someone invites another to gamble, they should give charity instead.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever among you swears and says: By Al-Lat, let him say: La ilaha illallah (There is none worthy of worship except Allah). And whoever says to his companion: Come, let us gamble, then let him give in charity'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Replace swearing with La ilaha illallah , Give charity instead of gambling .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us that swearing is not allowed in Islam. If someone does swear, they should replace it with the phrase “La ilaha illallah” which means “There is none worthy of worship except Allah”. He also taught us that gambling is not allowed either. Instead of gambling, we should give charity to those who are less fortunate than us. This hadith teaches us the importance of being mindful of our words and actions as Muslims and how we can use them for good deeds such as giving charity instead of engaging in activities like gambling or swearing which are forbidden in Islam.
