Accountability for False Oaths and Suicide

SUMMARY: Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam and tells a lie, will be held accountable for it in the Hereafter. Similarly, whoever kills themselves with something will be punished with it in the Hereafter.

Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam, telling a lie, will be as he said, and whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it in the Hereafter".

QUICK LESSONS:
Speak truthfully

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about accountability for false oaths and suicide. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that if someone swears by a religion other than Islam while telling a lie, they will be held accountable for their words in the Hereafter. Similarly, if someone kills themselves with something, they will be punished with it in the Hereafter. This hadith teaches us to always speak truthfully and to never take our own lives as Allah has given us life as an honourable gift that should not be taken away from ourselves or anyone else without His permission.
