Setting Good Examples

SUMMARY: It is not appropriate to set bad examples, and taking back a gift is similar to returning to something that one has already rejected.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'It does not befit us to leave bad examples. The one who takes back his gift is like the one who goes back to his vomit'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Set good examples for others; Be generous; Give without expecting anything in return; Think twice before making decisions; Avoid regretful actions in the future.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that it is important for us to set good examples for others. We should not do anything that would be considered inappropriate or wrong, as this will have a negative effect on those around us. He also compared taking back a gift with returning to something that one has already rejected, such as vomit. This comparison shows how unacceptable it is for someone to take back their gift after they have given it away. It teaches us the importance of being generous and giving without expecting anything in return. Furthermore, it encourages people to think twice before making any decisions so they can avoid any regretful actions in the future.
