Fulfilling Vows on Behalf of Others

SUMMARY: The Prophet advised Sa'd bin 'Ubadah to fulfill his mother's vow on her behalf.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: Sa'd bin 'Ubadah came to the Prophet and said: "My mother has died and she had a vow to fulfill but she did not do so". He said: "Fulfill it on her behalf".
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، - هُوَ ابْنُ عُرْوَةَ - عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ جَاءَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا نَذْرٌ وَلَمْ تَقْضِهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fulfilling a vow or pledge that someone has made but was unable to fulfill. In this case, the person in question was Sa'd bin 'Ubadah's mother who had made a vow but passed away before she could fulfill it. The Prophet advised Sa'd to fulfill the vow on her behalf, showing us that we should always strive to keep our promises and obligations even if they are not our own. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of our words and actions as they can have consequences for others even after we are gone. Furthermore, it shows us the importance of honoring commitments and being responsible for our actions even when it may be difficult or inconvenient for us to do so.
