The Importance of Having a Written Will

SUMMARY: It is important for Muslims to have a written will in case something happens to them.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "It is not befitting for a Muslim who has anything concerning which a will should be made, to abide for two nights without having a written will with him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have a written will if you have anything concerning which a will should be made.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith emphasizes the importance of having a written will for Muslims. A will is an important document that states what should happen to one's possessions and assets after they pass away. The Prophet Muhammad advised that it is not befitting for any Muslim who has anything concerning which a will should be made, to wait two nights without having this document prepared and ready. This shows how important it is for Muslims to have their wills in order so that their wishes can be respected after they are gone. It also serves as an example of how responsible and organized the Prophet was when it came to his own affairs, as well as those of his followers.
