Awards for Competitions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised against awarding anything other than arrows, camels or horses in competitions.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "There should be no awards (for victory in a competition) except for arrows, camels or horses".
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ أَبِي نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ سَبَقَ إِلاَّ فِي نَصْلٍ أَوْ حَافِرٍ أَوْ خُفٍّ
