Provide financial support to widows during difficult times.

This hadith discusses an important topic from the Quran, which is about what should be done for wives who are left behind after their husband's death. According to this hadith, Allah initially said that these women should be given a year's maintenance and residence without turning them out. However, this was later abrogated by another verse in the Quran which allocated to her one quarter or one eighth instead. Additionally, it also states that the appointed time ('Iddah) of one year was abrogated and replaced with a term of four months and ten days. This shows us that Allah is merciful towards widows as He has provided them with financial support during their difficult times as well as reduced their waiting period so they can move on with life sooner rather than later.
