Sunan an-Nasai 3479 (Book 27, Hadith 91) #18091
Hereditary Skin Color and Disowning Children

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) taught a man from Banu Fazarah that it is wrong to disown his son just because he was born with a different skin color, and used the example of camels to explain why.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "A man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet and said: 'My wife has given birth to a black boy' -and he wanted to disown him. He said: 'Do you have camels?' He said: 'Yes'. He said: 'What color are they?' He said: 'Red'. He said: 'Are there any gray ones among them?' He said: 'There are some gray camels among them'. He said: 'Why is that do you think?' He said: 'Perhaps it is hereditary'. He said: 'Perhaps this is hereditary'. And he did not permit him to disown him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Accept your children unconditionally regardless of their physical appearance or any other factor outside their control .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance of accepting our children for who they are, regardless of their skin color or any other physical characteristics. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used an example of camels to explain this concept; some camels are red while others are gray, but this does not mean that one is better than the other. Similarly, we should not judge our children based on their physical appearance or any other factor outside of their control. We should love them unconditionally and accept them as they are. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about the importance of understanding hereditary traits; just like some camels may be gray due to hereditary factors, so too can certain physical characteristics be passed down from generation to generation in humans.
