The Prophet's Love for Medina

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) had a great love for Medina and whenever he returned from a journey, he would show his excitement by making his mount go fast.

Narrated Anas: Whenever the Prophet returned from a journey and observed the walls of Medina, he would make his Mount go fast, and if he was on an animal (ie a horse), he would make it gallop because of his love for Medina.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَى جُدُرَاتِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَوْضَعَ رَاحِلَتَهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ، حَرَّكَهَا مِنْ حُبِّهَا‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates the great love that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had for the city of Medina. Whenever he returned from a journey, he would make his mount go faster out of excitement to be back in the city. This shows us how much importance and reverence we should have for our cities and homes. We should always strive to make them better places to live in and take pride in them as they are part of our identity as Muslims.
