QUICK LESSONS:
Tell truth instead of lying

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment for lying. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that when the Prophet commanded two people who were engaging in Li'an to utter the fifth oath, he also commanded a man to place his hand over his mouth. By doing this, he was warning them that if they lied, it would inevitably bring punishment upon them. This hadith teaches us that lying is wrong and has consequences; we should always strive to tell the truth instead of lying.
