Bed Allocation in a Family

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that a family should have three beds, one for the husband, one for the wife and one for guests. The fourth bed is to remind them of Shaitan's presence.

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah said: "A bed for a man, a bed for his wife, a third for his guest and the fourth is for the Shaitan".

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us about how to allocate beds in our families. He said that each family should have three beds; one for the husband, one for the wife and another bed for guests who come over. He also reminded us of Shaitan's presence by saying that there should be a fourth bed as well. This teaches us to be mindful of our actions and not let Shaitan influence us with his evil deeds. We must remember that Allah is always watching over us and we must strive to do good deeds in order to please Him. It also teaches us about hospitality; we must welcome our guests with open arms and make sure they are comfortable when they come over. This hadith reminds us of how important it is to maintain good relationships with others, especially those who are close to us such as family members or friends.
