The Prophet's Generosity to Safiyyah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) freed a woman named Safiyyah and gave her freedom as her dowry.

It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah manumitted Safiyyah and made that her dowry.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَعَبْدَ الْعَزِيزِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ صُهَيْبٍ - عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، وَشُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَهُ صَدَاقَهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the generosity of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ towards a woman named Safiyyah. He freed her from slavery and made that freedom her dowry. This shows us how much he valued the freedom of individuals and how generous he was in giving it away. It also teaches us that we should be generous with our wealth and possessions in order to help those who are less fortunate than us. We should also strive to free those who are enslaved or oppressed in any way possible.
