Prohibiting Marriage to Paternal and Maternal Aunts

SUMMARY: A woman should not marry her paternal or maternal aunt.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "A woman should not be taken as a co-wife to her paternal aunt or her maternal aunt".
أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ دُرُسْتَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى عَمَّتِهَا وَلاَ عَلَى خَالَتِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah and it states that a woman should not be taken as a co-wife to her paternal aunt or her maternal aunt. This means that marriage between a woman and either of her paternal or maternal aunts is prohibited in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad was sent as an example for us to follow, so this hadith serves as an instruction from Allah on how we should live our lives.
