Narrated Jabir: It was narrated that Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah met me and said: 'O Jabir, have you got married to a woman since I last saw you?' I said: 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah'. He said: 'To a virgin or to a previously-married woman?' I said: 'To a previously-married woman'. He said: 'Why not a virgin, so she could play with you?'"
The hadith also teaches us an important lesson about being mindful of our words when speaking with others; even though the Prophet's question may have seemed innocent enough, it could have caused Jabir some embarrassment or discomfort if he felt like his decision was being judged or criticized in any way. Therefore, we should always be careful with how we phrase our questions and comments so as not to hurt anyone's feelings or make them feel uncomfortable in any way.
