Equipping Warriors and Caring for their Families

SUMMARY: Taking care of a warrior's family is equivalent to fighting in battle.

It was narrated that Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever equips a warrior has fought, and whoever looks after his family in his absence has fought'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Provide support to warriors and their families while they are away from home. Show appreciation and respect for those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect us and our country.

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that taking care of a warrior's family is just as important as fighting in battle. This means that those who are not able to fight on the battlefield can still contribute by providing support for the warriors and their families. This could include providing food or other necessities while they are away from home. It also includes emotional support such as being there for them when they return home from battle or sending them letters of encouragement while they are away. By doing this we can show our appreciation and respect for those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect us and our country.
