Sunan an-Nasai 3153 (Book 25, Hadith 69) #17765
The Desirability of Martyrdom

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that martyrdom is the most desirable death for a Muslim, even if they were to be given all the wealth and possessions of the world.

It was narrated from Ibn Abi 'Amirah that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no Muslim soul among the people that is taken by its Lord and wishes it could come back to you, even if it had this world and everything in it, except the martyr". Ibn Abi 'Amirah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'If I were to be killed in the cause of Allah, that would be dearer to me that if all the people of the deserts and the cities were to be mine'."1 1 Meaning: If they were all my slaves and I set them free.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that martyrdom is the most desirable death for a Muslim. It was narrated by Ibn Abi 'Amirah from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet said that no Muslim soul would wish to come back to this world if it were taken by its Lord, even if it had all the wealth and possessions of this world. He then went on to say that he himself would prefer being killed in Allah's cause than having all people in deserts and cities as his slaves. This hadith teaches us about how valuable martyrdom is in Islam and how much Muslims should strive for it. It also shows us how much we should value our faith over worldly possessions or power. We should always remember that nothing can compare with dying while striving for Allah's cause and His pleasure.
