Fighting in the Cause of Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wished to be killed in the cause of Allah and was willing to go on any campaign that fought for Allah's cause.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, were it not that some men among the believers would not like to stay behind when I went out (to fight), and I could not find any mounts for them, I would not have stayed behind from any campaign that fought in the cause of Allah. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I wish that I could be killed in the cause of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed, then be brought back to life, then killed'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of fighting in the cause of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was willing to go on any campaign that fought for Allah's cause and wished to be killed in His name. He wanted his followers to join him as well, but he could not find mounts for them so he stayed behind. This hadith teaches us that we should strive hard and make sacrifices for our faith if necessary. We should also have devotion towards our religion and be ready to give up our lives if needed, as martyrdom is one of the highest forms of worshiping God.
