The Dedication of a Mujahid

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked what action is equal to Jihad, and he replied that no action can compare to the dedication of a Mujahid.

Abu Hurairah said: "A man came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'Tell me of an action that is equal to Jihad'. He said: 'I cannot. When the Mujahid goes out, can you enter the Masjid and stand in prayer and never rest, and fast and never break your fast?' He said: 'Who can do that?'"

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for excellence in our actions

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the dedication of a Mujahid and how it cannot be compared to any other action. A man came to the Prophet Muhammad and asked him what action was equal to Jihad. The Prophet replied that no other action could compare with the dedication of a Mujahid who goes out for battle. He then gave an example by asking if the man could enter into a Masjid and stand in prayer without rest or fast without breaking his fast. This shows us how dedicated one must be in order for their actions to be considered equal to that of a Mujahid's. It also teaches us that we should strive for excellence in our actions as nothing can compare with true dedication and hard work.
