Departing Before Sunrise

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) departed from the people of Jahiliyyah before sunrise, which was different from their practice.

It was narrated that Amr bin Maimun aid: "I head him say 'I saw 'Umar in Al-Muzdalifah and he said: The people of the Jahiliyyah would not depart until the sun had risen, and they would say: Shine, O Thabir! The Messenger of Allah differed from them and departed before the sun had risen.
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ شَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بِجَمْعٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَانُوا لاَ يُفِيضُونَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَيَقُولُونَ أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ خَالَفَهُمْ ثُمَّ أَفَاضَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) departure from Al-Muzdalifah before sunrise. This was a difference between him and the people of Jahiliyyah, who would not depart until after sunrise. The Prophet Muhammad's actions were an example for us to follow in our own lives; we should strive to be different than those around us who may be engaging in wrong practices or activities. We should also strive to do good deeds and act according to Islamic teachings even if it is not popular among those around us.
