Sahih al-Bukhari 1841 (Book 28, Hadith 21) #1764
Clothing for Muhrims

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that if a Muhrim does not have slippers, they can wear Khuffs and if they do not have an Izar, they can wear trousers.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I heard the Prophet delivering a sermon at 'Arafat saying, "If a Muhrim does not find slippers, he could wear Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather, but he has to cut short the Khuffs below the ankles), and if he does not find an Izar (a waist sheet for wrapping the lower half of the body) he could wear trousers".

QUICK LESSONS:
Dress appropriately according to Islamic teachings even when you are in different states such as ihram .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is teaching about what clothing is appropriate for a person who is in the state of ihram. A muhrim is someone who has entered into the state of ihram and must follow certain rules while in this state. The Prophet ﷺ teaches that if a muhrim does not have slippers to wear, then they can wear khuffs which are socks made from thick fabric or leather but should be cut short below the ankles. If a muhrim does not have an Izar which is a waist sheet used to wrap around the lower half of their body, then they can wear trousers instead. This hadith teaches us about being mindful of our clothing choices and how we should dress appropriately according to Islamic teachings even when we are in different states such as ihram.
