Supplication at As-Safa and Al-Marwah

SUMMARY: This hadith narrates the story of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reciting the Takbir three times and supplicating while standing on top of As-Safa and Al-Marwah.

It was narrated from Jabir that: when the Messenger of Allah stood on top of As-Safa, he recited the Takbir three times and said: "La ilaha illallah, Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, yuhyi wa yumitu, wa huwaala kulli shayin qadir (There is none worthy of worship except Allah alone with no partner or associate, His is the dominion and to Him be praise, He gives life and death, and He has power over all things)". He did three times, and supplicated, and did the same a top Al-Marwah.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates a story about Prophet Muhammad's supplications while standing on top of two hills called As Safa and Al Marwa. These two hills are located in Makkah and are part of the Hajj pilgrimage ritual. The Prophet recited the Takbir three times which is an Islamic phrase meaning "God is great". He also said "La ilaha illallah" which means "there is no god but Allah". By doing this he was expressing his faith in Allah as well as his devotion to Him. He then supplicated to Allah for whatever he wished for himself or others. This hadith teaches us that we should always express our faith in Allah by saying words such as “La ilaha illallah” and “Takbeer” whenever we can, especially during moments when we feel close to Him such as during Hajj or other religious rituals. We should also make sure to always make dua or supplicate to Him for whatever it is that we need or wish for ourselves or others around us.
