Sunan an-Nasai 2962 (Book 24, Hadith 345) #17574
The Ritual of Tawaf in Islam

SUMMARY: This hadith narrates the Prophet Muhammad's ritual of Tawaf, which includes walking around the Ka'bah three times at a rapid pace and four times at a normal pace. He then recited a verse from the Quran and prayed two Rak'ahs with the Maqam between him and the Ka'bah. He then touched one of its corners before leaving, saying that As-Safa and Al-Marwah are two symbols of Allah.

It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah performed Tawaf, walking rapidly (Raml) for three circuits, and walking at a normal pace for four. Then he recited: "And take you the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer". And prayed two Rak'ahs with the Maqam between him and the Ka'bah. Then he touched the Corner, then he went out and said: 'As-Safa and Al-Marwah are two of the symbols of Allah. We will start with that with which Allah started'."

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir describes an important ritual in Islam known as Tawaf. It is performed by walking around the Ka’bah seven times, three times at a rapid pace and four times at a normal pace while reciting verses from the Quran. After completing this ritual, one should pray two Rak’ahs with Maqam between them and themselves and touch one corner of it before leaving while saying that As-Safa wa Al Marwah are two symbols of Allah. This ritual is an important part of Islamic worship as it symbolizes submission to Allah's will as well as respect for His house -the Ka’bah-.
