Walking Pace During Hajj and Umrah

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of walking at a rapid pace for three rounds and a normal pace for four rounds during Hajj or Umrah.

It was narrated from Nafi' that: Abdullah bin Umar used to walk rapidly in three rounds of his Tawaf when he came for Hajj or Umrah, and walk (at a normal pace) in four. He said: "The Messenger of Allah used to do that".
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ابْنَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، كَانَ يَخُبُّ فِي طَوَافِهِ حِينَ يَقْدَمُ فِي حَجٍّ أَوْ عُمْرَةٍ ثَلاَثًا وَيَمْشِي أَرْبَعًا قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the practice of circumambulation during Hajj or Umrah. It was narrated from Nafi' that Abdullah bin Umar used to walk rapidly in three rounds of his Tawaf when he came for Hajj or Umrah and walk at a normal pace in four. He said that the Messenger of Allah used to do this as well. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions when performing religious rituals such as circumambulating around the Kaaba during Hajj or Umrah. We should also strive to follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad by doing what he did while performing these rituals with respect and reverence.
