Rituals of Hajj and Umarah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed Tawaf in Hajj and Umarah at a specific pace, followed by two Rakahs of prayer and Sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah.

It was narrated from Ibn Umar, that: when the Messenger of Allah performed Tawaf in Hajj and Umarah- as he first arrived (in Makkah), he would hasten in three rounds, and walk (at a regular pace) in four. Then he prayed two Rakahs, then he performed sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ إِذَا طَافَ فِي الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ أَوَّلَ مَا يَقْدَمُ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْعَى ثَلاَثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ وَيَمْشِي أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَطُوفُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ

The hadith narrated by Ibn Umar describes the rituals that the Prophet Muhammad performed during his pilgrimage to Makkah. He would perform Tawaf in three rounds at a quick pace and four rounds at a regular pace. After this he would pray two Rakahs before performing sai between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. This hadith highlights the importance of following the rituals prescribed for pilgrimage as it was done by the Prophet himself. It also serves as an example for Muslims to follow when they are performing their own pilgrimage to Makkah.
