Sunan an-Nasai 2910 (Book 24, Hadith 293) #17522
Building a Mosque Despite Financial Limitations

SUMMARY: The Prophet wanted to build a mosque but was unable to due to lack of funds and the recent conversion of people from disbelief.

Aishah said: "The Prophet said: 'Were it not for the fact that the people have recently left disbelief, and that I do not have enough funds to enable me to build it. I would have incorporated five cubits of the Hijr in it, and given it a door through which the people could enter, and another door through which they exit'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive towards goals with determination & faith in Allah's help

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad wanted to build a mosque for his followers but he was unable to do so because of two reasons. Firstly, the people had recently left disbelief and were not yet financially stable enough for him to collect enough funds for building the mosque. Secondly, even if he had collected enough money it would not have been sufficient as he wanted five cubits of the Hijr incorporated in it and two doors - one for entering and one for exiting. This hadith teaches us that despite financial limitations we should strive towards our goals with determination and faith in Allah's help.
