Reasonable Riding of Mounts

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad advised to ride a mount in a reasonable manner if necessary, until another mount is found.

Abu Az-Zuhair said: "I heard Jabir bin Abdullah being asked about riding a Badanah. He said about riding a Badanah. He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: Ride it in a reasonable manner if necessary, until you find another mount".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect animals, Be kind towards living creatures, Use things moderately for personal benefit.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad advises us to be mindful of how we use our mounts when riding them. We should not be too rough or careless with them and instead ride them in a reasonable manner. If we need to use the mount for some purpose, then we should do so but only until we can find another one. This teaches us that animals should be treated with respect and kindness as they are living creatures just like us and deserve to be treated well. It also teaches us that when using something for our own benefit, it is important to remember that there are limits and boundaries which must not be crossed.
