Sacrifice for Lice Troubles

SUMMARY: Ka'b bin 'Ujra was troubled by lice and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) advised him to shave his head, fast three days, feed six poor persons or slaughter one sheep as a sacrifice.

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Layla: Ka'b bin 'Ujra said that Allah's Messenger said to him (Ka'b), "Perhaps your lice have troubled you?" Ka'b replied, "Yes! O Allah's Messenger ". Allah's Messenger said, "Have your head shaved and then either fast three days or feed six poor persons or slaughter one sheep as a sacrifice".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏"‏ لَعَلَّكَ آذَاكَ هَوَامُّكَ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ‏.‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"‏ احْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ وَصُمْ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ، أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينَ، أَوِ انْسُكْ بِشَاةٍ

This hadith is about the advice given by Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to Ka'b bin 'Ujra when he was troubled by lice. The Prophet asked him if his lice had been troubling him and then advised him to shave his head and either fast three days or feed six poor persons or slaughter one sheep as a sacrifice. This hadith teaches us that we should be generous in helping those who are in need of help and that we should be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of others. It also teaches us that we should not take our blessings for granted but instead use them wisely in order to help those who are less fortunate than us.
