QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic practices ; Respect those who are in authority over us ; Be mindful about our actions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the practice of Tamattu'. It was narrated by Abu Musa that he used to issue fatwas concerning this practice. However a man told him to withhold some fatwas as they do not know what the commander of believers introduced into the rites subsequently. When Abu Musa met Umar he asked him about it and Umar said that although Prophet Muhammad and his companions did it but he did not like people to lay with their wives in the shade of Arak trees and then go out for Hajj with their heads dripping. This hadith teaches us that we should follow Islamic practices but also be mindful about our actions as we should not do anything which is disliked by God or His messenger. We should also respect those who are in authority over us such as commanders or leaders who have been appointed by God.
