Reciting Talbiyah for 'Umrah and Hajj Together

SUMMARY: The Prophet recited the Talbiyah for 'Umrah and Hajj together, and Anas confirmed that this was what he heard from the Prophet.

Bakr bin 'Abdullah Al-Muzani said: "Anas said: 'I heard the Prophet reciting the Talbiyah for 'Umrah and Hajj together. I told Ibn 'Umar about that and he said: "He recited the Talbiyah for Hajj only. I met Anas and told him what Ibn 'Umar had said, and Anas said: "do you think of us as no more than children? QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in religious leaders; Respect those who are older than you; Listen carefully to instructions given by religious leaders; Recite prayers with sincerity when performing Umraah and/or Hijjah together .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of reciting the Talbiyah when performing both Umrah and Hajj together. The Talbiyah is a prayer in which one declares their intention to perform either Umrah or Hajj, or both at once. Anas ibn Malik reported that he heard the Prophet Muhammad recite this prayer when performing both Umrah and Hajj together, which was confirmed by Ibn Umar who said that it should only be recited for Hajj alone. However, Anas rebuked him saying "Do you think of us as no more than children?" implying that they should know better than to doubt what they heard from the Prophet himself. This hadith teaches us to have faith in what we hear from our religious leaders, even if it goes against our own understanding of things. It also teaches us to respect those who are older than us by not questioning their knowledge or wisdom without good reason.
