Wearing Khuffs as an Alternative to Sandals

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad advised that if a person is unable to find sandals, they should wear Khuffs and cut them so that they come lower than the ankles.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar: That the Prophet said "If a Muhrim cannot find sandals then let him wear Khuffs, and cut them, so that they come lower than the ankles'.'

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad regarding wearing khuff while in ihram state if one cannot find sandal .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught his followers that if a person is in the state of Ihram, or pilgrimage, and cannot find sandals then they should wear Khuffs instead. A khuff is a type of leather sock which covers the foot up to the ankle. It was advised by the Prophet Muhammad that these khuffs should be cut so that it comes lower than the ankle. This hadith teaches us about being resourceful and using what we have available when needed. It also teaches us about modesty as it advises covering our feet with something more modest than sandals when in Ihram.
