Sunan an-Nasai 2543 (Book 23, Hadith 109) #17154
The Nobility of Charity

SUMMARY: Giving charity is a noble act, and it is best to give when one is wealthy. It is better to give from the upper hand than the lower hand, and it should start with those who are closest to you.

Hakim bin Hizam said: "The Messenger of Allah said: "The best kind of charity is that which is given when you are rich, and the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and start with those for whom you are responsible"'.
