Best Deeds According to Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet was asked which deed is best and he answered that faith without doubt, Jihad without stealing, and Hajj with good intentions are the best deeds. He also said that prayer with Qunut is the best prayer, charity to the poor at night is the best charity, emigration from what Allah has forbidden is the best Hijrah and death while fighting for a noble cause is the best death.

It was narrated from 'Abudullah bin Hubshi Al-Khath 'ami that the Prophet was asked: "Which deed is best?" He said: "Faith in which there is no doubt, Jihad in which there is no stealing of the spoils of war, and Hjijatun Mabrurah".1 It was said: "Which prayer is best? He said:"That in which there is ling Qunut (standing)". It was said: "Which charity is best?" He said: "The poor's night". It was said: "Which Hijrah (emigration) is best?" He said: "One who shuns (Hahara) that which Allah has forbidden". It was said: "One who strives against the idolaters with his life and his wealth".It was said: "Which death is best?" He said: "One who sheds his blood while his horse's feet are cut with swords".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الأَزْدِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُبْشِيٍّ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ سُئِلَ أَىُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ‏"‏ إِيمَانٌ لاَ شَكَّ فِيهِ وَجِهَادٌ لاَ غُلُولَ فِيهِ وَحَجَّةٌ مَبْرُورَةٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ فَأَىُّ الصَّلاَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ‏"‏ طُولُ الْقُنُوتِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ فَأَىُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ‏"‏ جَهْدُ الْمُقِلِّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ فَأَىُّ الْهِجْرَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ هَجَرَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ فَأَىُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ جَاهَدَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قِيلَ فَأَىُّ الْقَتْلِ أَشْرَفُ قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ أُهْرِيقَ دَمُهُ وَعُقِرَ جَوَادُهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad was asked about which deed was most important in life. He replied that faith in Allah without any doubt or hesitation was of utmost importance. He also said that jihad should be done but not for personal gain or stealing from others. Furthermore, he said that hajj should be done with good intentions and prayers should include qunut standing up during it. Additionally, charity to those who are less fortunate at night time would be greatly rewarded by Allah as well as emigrating away from things which Allah has forbidden us to do such as drinking alcohol or taking drugs etc.. Lastly, he said that dying while fighting for a noble cause would be considered one of the greatest deaths one could have in life.
