Changes in Measurement of Sa' Over Time

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the difference in size between the Sa' during the time of Prophet Muhammad and today.

It was narrated from Al-Ju'aid: "I heard As-Sa'ib bin Yazid say: 'During the time of Allah's messenger, the Sa' was equal to a Mudd and third of the Mudd you use today, and the Sa' of today has become large"'. (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: And Ziyad bin Ayyub narrated it to me.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to how measurements have changed over time. During the time of Prophet Muhammad, a sa’ was equal to a mudd and a third of what it is today. A mudd is an ancient unit of measurement used for measuring grain or other dry goods. It was also used as a measure for volume and capacity. This hadith serves as an example that measurements can change over time due to various factors such as technological advancements or changes in society's needs and wants. It also teaches us that we should be mindful when making comparisons between different eras because things may not be exactly the same now as they were before.
