Sunan an-Nasai 2349 (Book 22, Hadith 260) #16960
Intermittent Fasting of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to fast intermittently, and he did not fast for a whole month apart from Ramadan.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq said: "I asked 'Aishah about the fasting of the Messenger of Allah. She said: "The Messenger of Allah used to fast until we said: He is going to (continue to) fast, and he used not to fast until we said: He is not going to, and he did not fast for a whole month from the time he came to Al-Madinah, apart from Ramadan"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Fast intermittently according to Islamic teachings .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to fast intermittently, meaning he would sometimes fast and sometimes not. He would usually only fast during the month of Ramadan, which is an obligation for all Muslims. This hadith teaches us that fasting is important in Islam and should be done regularly, but it also shows us that we should take breaks from fasting when necessary. It also teaches us about moderation in our religious practices; we should neither overdo nor neglect them.
