Intermittent Fasting of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would fast intermittently, but never fasted a full month apart from Ramadan.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah would fast until we said he would not break his fast, and he would not fast until we said he does not want to fast. And he never fasted any month in full apart from Ramadan, from the time he came to Al-Madinah".

QUICK LESSONS:
Observe intermittent fasting throughout the year as well as during Ramadhan .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ibn 'Abbas states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would fast intermittently, meaning he would sometimes fast and sometimes not. He never fasted a full month apart from the holy month of Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims all over the world every year since he arrived in Al-Madinah. This hadith teaches us that fasting is an important part of our faith and should be done regularly, especially during Ramadan when we are encouraged to increase our acts of worship and devotion to Allah SWT. It also shows us how devoted the Prophet was to his faith and how much importance he placed on fasting as an act of worship.
