Making Up Prayers During Menstruation

SUMMARY: A woman asked 'Aishah about whether a menstruating woman should make up the prayers when she becomes pure, to which 'Aishah replied that they used to menstruate during the time of Prophet Muhammad and he only told them to make up the fasts but not the prayers.

It was narrated from Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah that a woman asked 'Aishah: "Should a menstruating woman make up the prayers when she becomes pure?" she said: "Are you a Haruri? We used to menstruate at the time of the Messenger of Allah then we would become pure. He told us to make up the fast, but he did not tell us to make up the prayers".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about making up prayers during menstruation. It was narrated from Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah that a woman asked 'Aishah if a menstruating woman should make up her prayers when she becomes pure. In response, 'Aishah said that at the time of Prophet Muhammad, they used to menstruate and he only told them to make up their fasts but not their prayers. This hadith teaches us that it is not necessary for women who are on their period to make up their missed prayer days as long as they are able to fast once they become pure again. It also shows us how important it is for us as Muslims to follow in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammad by following his teachings and example in all aspects of our lives.
