Breaking the Fast in Al-Kadid

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) fasted during Ramadan and broke his fast when he was in Al-Kadid.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger Allah went out in the year of the Conquest, fasting during Ramadan. Then when he was in Al-Kadid, he broke his fast".
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ صَائِمًا فِي رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالْكَدِيدِ أَفْطَرَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's fasting during the month of Ramadan. During this time, Muslims are required to abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. In this particular hadith, it is mentioned that the Prophet Muhammad was fasting during Ramadan and then broke his fast when he was in Al-Kadid. This shows us that even though we are obligated to fast during Ramadan, there may be certain circumstances where it is permissible for us to break our fasts. It also teaches us that we should always strive to follow Allah's commands even if they may be difficult for us at times.
