Praying and Performing Tawaf

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) offered the four daily prayers and then performed Tawaf (al-Wada') around the Ka'ba.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet offered the Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers and slept for a while at a place called Al-Mahassab and then he rode towards the Ka'ba and performed Tawaf (al-Wada').
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمُتَعَالِ بْنُ طَالِبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ حَدَّثَهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ، وَالْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ، وَرَقَدَ رَقْدَةً بِالْمُحَصَّبِ، ثُمَّ رَكِبَ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَطَافَ بِهِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of offering his daily prayers and performing a ritual called 'Tawaf'. The Prophet Muhammad would offer four daily prayers - Zuhr, 'Asr, Maghrib and 'Isha'. After this he would take a short nap at a place called Al-Mahassab before riding towards the Ka'ba to perform Tawaf. This ritual involves walking around the Ka'ba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction. It is an important part of Islamic worship as it symbolizes one's devotion to Allah. Through this hadith we learn that prayer should be followed by action in order to demonstrate our faith in Allah. We also learn that we should strive to make our worship meaningful by performing rituals such as Tawaf with sincerity and dedication.
