Concessions for Fasting and Prayer

SUMMARY: Allah has granted concessions to travelers, pregnant women and the sick when it comes to fasting and prayer.

It was narrated from Abu Qilabah that a man said: "I came to the Prophet to discuss something and he was eating breakfast. He said: 'Come and eat'. I said: 'I am fasting'. He said: 'Come and I will tell you about fasting. Allah has waived half of prayer and fasting from the traveler, and he has granted a concession to pregnant women and the sick"'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the concessions given by Allah .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Allah granting concessions to certain people when it comes to fasting and prayer. The Prophet was eating breakfast when a man came to him with a question about fasting. The Prophet told the man that Allah has waived half of prayer and fasting from travelers as well as granted a concession for pregnant women and those who are sick. This means that if someone is traveling or pregnant or ill they do not have to fast or pray in full like other people do; they can take breaks from these activities if needed. This shows us how merciful Allah is towards His creation; He understands our limitations and makes allowances accordingly so we can still worship Him in the best way possible without overburdening ourselves.
