Sahih al-Bukhari 1758, 1759 (Book 25, Hadith 236) #1687
Inquiring for Verdicts

SUMMARY: A group of people asked Ibn 'Abbas about a woman who got her menses after performing Tawafal-Ifada, and he suggested that they should inquire about it when they reach Medina.

Narrated 'Ikrima: The people of Medina asked Ibn 'Abbas about a woman who got her menses after performing Tawafal- Ifada. He said, "She could depart (from Mecca)". They said, "We will not act on your verdict and ignore the verdict of Zaid". Ibn 'Abbas said, "When you reach Medina, inquire about it". So, when they reached Medina they asked (about that). One of those whom they asked was Um Sulaim. She told them the narration of Safiya (812).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of inquiring for verdicts from reliable sources. It is narrated by 'Ikrima and Um Sulaim, who were both knowledgeable in Islamic law. The people of Medina asked Ibn 'Abbas about a woman who got her menses after performing Tawafal-Ifada, and he suggested that they should inquire about it when they reach Medina. This shows the importance of seeking knowledge from reliable sources before making decisions or taking action on matters related to Islamic law. It also teaches us to be humble in our approach towards knowledge, as we must always be willing to learn more even if we think we know something already. Furthermore, this hadith encourages us to seek out advice from those with more experience or expertise than ourselves in order to make sure that our decisions are based on sound judgement and accurate information.
