Fast regularly for protection against bad deeds and temptations in life

This hadith speaks about the importance of fasting and how it can be used as a shield to protect oneself from evil and harm. It was narrated by Saeed bin Abi Hind who heard it from Mutarrif who was told by Uthman bin Abi Al-As that the Prophet Muhammad said “Fasting is a shield like the shield of any one of you in battle”. Abu Hurairah also reported that the Prophet said “Fasting is a shield”. This hadith teaches us that fasting can be used as protection against bad deeds and temptations in life, just like how a soldier uses his shield to protect himself in battle. It encourages us to fast regularly so we can stay away from sinning and remain on the path of righteousness.
