The Rewards of Fasting During Ramadan

SUMMARY: Fasting during Ramadan with faith and hope of reward will lead to forgiveness of previous sins.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins"'.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، رضى الله عنه قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the rewards that come from fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. According to this hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, if a person fasts out of faith and in the hope of reward then Allah will forgive their previous sins. This teaches us that we should strive to do good deeds with sincerity and faith in order for us to be rewarded by Allah. It also shows us how merciful Allah is as He forgives our past mistakes when we turn back to Him in repentance. We should take this opportunity during the month of Ramadan to increase our acts of worship so that we can reap its rewards both in this world and the hereafter.
