The Blessing of Sahur

SUMMARY: Taking Sahur is a blessed breakfast.

It was narrated from Al-Miqdam bin Madikarib that the Prophet said: "You should take Sahur for it is the blessed breakfast".
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ بَقِيَّةَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي بَحِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِيكَرِبَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ عَلَيْكُمْ بِغَدَاءِ السُّحُورِ فَإِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَدَاءُ الْمُبَارَكُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages us to take sahur, which is the meal eaten before sunrise during Ramadan. It is a blessed meal that has many benefits and rewards from Allah. Taking sahur helps us to have energy throughout the day and it also helps us to stay focused on our worship during Ramadan. Additionally, it teaches us discipline and self-control as we are able to resist eating until the time of iftar comes in the evening. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that Allah blesses those who take sahur and rewards them for their efforts in fasting during Ramadan.
