This hadith teaches us about the length of a month according to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said "The month is like this," and gestured twice with all fingers of both hands and putting down one finger on his third time. This gesture was copied by Shubah who narrated it from Jabalah. The hadith teaches us that a month is twenty-nine days long.
