Sunan an-Nasai 2142 (Book 22, Hadith 53) #16753
Length of a Month According to the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) taught that the month is 29 days long and demonstrated it with a gesture.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said: "The month is like this," and (one of the narrators) Shubah did the same gesture as Jabalah had done, copying, Ibn 'Umar: "It is twenty-nine, as he gestured twice with all fingers of both hands, and putting down one of his fingers the third time".
