The Blessings of Ramadan

SUMMARY: During the month of Ramadan, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the devils are chained.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are shut, and the devils are fettered".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِذَا دَخَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فُتِّحَتْ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَصُفِّدَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah speaks about the blessings that come with the start of Ramadan. It is said that when this holy month begins, Allah opens up the gates to Paradise and shuts down those to Hell. Additionally, He also chains up all devils so they cannot cause any harm or mischief during this blessed time. This hadith serves as a reminder for us to take advantage of this special period by doing good deeds in order to gain Allah's mercy and forgiveness. Furthermore, it also encourages us to stay away from sins as much as possible since we know that during this time our chances for repentance are higher than ever before.
