Sahih al-Bukhari 1739 (Book 25, Hadith 217) #1668
The Sanctity of Life, Property & Honor

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the sanctity of life, property and honor. It emphasizes that these should be respected and protected just like the sacredness of the day, town and month.

Narrated 'Ikrima: Ibn 'Abbas said: "Allah's Messenger delivered a sermon on the Day of Nahr, and said, 'O people! (Tell me) what is the day today?' The people replied, 'It is the forbidden (sacred) day'. He asked again, 'What town is this?' They replied, 'It is the forbidden (Sacred) town'. He asked, 'Which month is this?' They replied, 'It is the forbidden (Sacred) month'. He said, 'No doubt! Your blood, your properties, and your honor are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this (sacred) town (Mecca) of yours, in this month of yours'. The Prophet repeated his statement again and again. After that he raised his head and said, 'O Allah! Haven't conveyed (Your Message) to them'. Haven't I conveyed Your Message to them?' " Ibn 'Abbas added, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the following was his will (Prophet's will) to his followers:--It is incumbent upon those who are present to convey this information to those who are absent Beware don't renegade (as) disbelievers (turn into infidels) after me, Striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect for life ,property & honour ; Spread peace with love ; Remain united .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to us about the importance of respecting life, property and honor. It emphasizes that these should be held in high regard just like we respect the sacredness of a certain day, town or month. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was reminding us that our lives are precious and must not be taken away from each other without due cause or reason. He also reminded us to protect our properties from being stolen or damaged by others as well as protecting our honor from being insulted or disrespected by anyone else. We must remember that all people have a right to their own lives, properties and honors which must be respected at all times.

The Prophet ﷺ also warned his followers against turning into infidels after him by striking each other's necks - meaning killing one another without any valid reason - which is strictly forbidden in Islam. He wanted his followers to remain united even after his death so they can continue spreading peace throughout the world with love for one another instead of hatred towards each other based on differences in beliefs or opinions.

This hadith teaches us many values such as respect for life, property and honor; unity among Muslims; peace over violence; love over hatred; justice over injustice; mercy over cruelty etc., which are essential for living a peaceful life both here on earth as well as in hereafter according to Islamic teachings.
