Seeking Refuge from the Torment of the Grave

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sought refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah after that seeking refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave".
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that he heard Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) seeking refuge with Allah from this torment. This hadith teaches us to always seek protection and guidance from Allah in all matters and to have faith in Him for He is our protector and sustainer. We should also remember that we will be held accountable for our actions after death and so we should strive to do good deeds throughout our lives. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that even though death may seem far away now, it will eventually come upon us all and so we must prepare ourselves for it by living a life full of piety and righteousness.
