Testing of Believers in Graves

SUMMARY: The believers will be tested in their graves, except for the martyrs who have already been tested by the flashing of swords above their heads.

It was narrated from Rashid bin Sa'd, that a man among the Companions of the Prophet said: "O Messenger of Allah, why will the believers be tested in their graves except the martyr?" He said: "The flashing of the swords above his head is trial enough".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive towards righteousness and live a life pleasing to Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about how believers will be tested after death. It is narrated from Rashid bin Sa'd that a man among the Companions of Prophet Muhammad asked why believers would be tested in their graves, except for martyrs who have already been tested by the flashing of swords above their heads. The Prophet replied that this was enough to test them. This hadith teaches us that even after death, we will still be held accountable for our actions and beliefs and must strive to live a life pleasing to Allah so as to pass these tests with ease. It also reminds us of the great sacrifice made by those who are martyred and how they are rewarded with Paradise without having to face any further tests or trials.
