SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) visiting graveyards and praying for the inhabitants of the place.

It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Buraidah, from his father, that: when the Messenger of Allah came to the graveyard he would say: "As-salamu 'alaykum ahli ad-diyari min al-mu'minin wal-muslimin wa inna I sha' Allahu bikum lana faratun wa nahnu lakum taba'un, as'alullahal-'afiyata lana wa lakum. (Peace by upon the inhabitants of this place among the believers and Muslims. Soon we will join you, if Allah willing. You have gone on ahead of us and we will follow you. I ask Allah to keep us and you safe and sound)"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Prophet Muhammad's visit to graveyards. He would greet the inhabitants of the graveyard with peace and pray that they are in a better place if Allah wills it. He also prayed that he and those who are still alive would soon join them in their resting place if God wills it. The Prophet also asked God to keep them all safe from harm or danger. This hadith teaches us to be respectful towards those who have passed away by visiting their gravesites and praying for them as well as being thankful for our own lives by asking God to keep us safe from harm or danger. It also reminds us that death is inevitable so we should always strive to live our lives according to what pleases God so we can join those who have passed away in a better place when our time comes.
