Prohibiting Plastering, Building and Sitting on Graves

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade people from plastering over graves, building over them or sitting on them.

Jabir said: "The Messenger of Allah forbade plastering over graves, building over them or sitting on them".
أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا، يَقُولُ ‏:‏ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنْ تَقْصِيصِ الْقُبُورِ، أَوْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهَا، أَوْ يَجْلِسَ عَلَيْهَا أَحَدٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad regarding graves. He prohibited people from plastering over graves, building structures over them or sitting on them. This hadith teaches us to respect the dead and not to disturb their resting place by doing any of these activities. We should also remember that Allah will judge us for our actions in this life and the hereafter so we should be mindful of how we treat others even after they have passed away.
